Chieftains play their hearts out

Girls basketball playoffs were just getting started as Lake Holcombe took on conference rival Flambeau Feb. 21, for the first round of Regionals. Chieftains’ head coach Craig Amborn says the last two times Lake Holcombe played Flambeau, the Falcons knocked his girls off the defensive boards with their physical play and height advantage. This time around it was a different story.

“The girls played their hearts out last night,” said Amborn. “Flambeau is a very good team. We played physical, which was the goal.”

For the first 8 minutes, Amborn says his team was outplayed by Flambeau, but a switch up in defense, and senior leaders Hannah Lee and Ellie Dixon, pushed the Chieftains forward.
