Steinke looks ‘forward’ to the future of testing

Brad Steinke

At some point in life, everyone will take one kind of test or another, but who decides what goes on a test? The answer for that can be found with Cornell Middle School teacher Brad Steinke.

As part of the Forward Exam Item Review July 31 through Aug. 2, Steinke took part in a workshop through the DPI and the Data Recognition Corporation (DRC). In the workshop, Steinke, and other teachers, looked at potential test bank items for the 2018 Mathematics Forward Exam.

“In order to prepare for item review,” said Steinke, “a teacher should have some knowledge of the grade level standards they will be working with. However, members of DPI do use the first morning everyone is present to train its members on how to use standards and Depth of Knowledge (DOK) charts in order to make a proper recommendation regarding the questions we are looking at.”
