Schools find ways to make up snow days

Area schools are feeling the effects of the rough winter

By Julia Wolf

Area schools are feeling the effects of the rough winter, with an increased number of inclement weather days. Districts are left with finding a way to meet state requirements for instructional hours this school year.

Cadott district administrator Jenny Starck says Cadott Schools have closed eight days because of bad weather, as of Feb. 28. Students are now scheduled to attend classes three days not on the original calendar – March 15, April 22 and June 6. (June 7 was added as a staff in-service day, and will be used as a make-up day if needed)

“In addition, beginning March 4, there will be time added at the beginning and end of the day,” said Starck.
