Pedestrian system plans in the works

Enjoying the outdoors is a big part of Wisconsin’s appeal. With a three-county plan to update bicycle and pedestrian systems, that appeal could get even bigger.

“Creating a tri-county plan for Dunn, Eau Claire and Chippewa counties will promote these modes of travel,” said Brian Kelley, Chippewa County highway commissioner.

Kelley says promoting transportation of biking, walking and jogging has many benefits, including health, safety and economic tourism. Efforts by the tri-counties will build on recently completed bicycle and pedestrian planning of neighboring St. Croix County and will include the United States Bicycle Route System project.
