No decision on staff compensation

Since September, a compensation committee of teachers, administration and board members met monthly to design a new salary plan for the Cadott School District staff.

“Our goal for the committee was to really come up with a plan to attract and retain high quality teachers,” said Pat Rothbauer, Cadott Jr./Sr. high school math instructor and committee member, at an April 10 regular school board meeting.

After researching 24 surrounding schools’ compensation packages, with a goal of Cadott’s being in the top 25 percent, the committee chose a tiered salary system. The matrix of the system focuses on years of teaching experience, as well as levels, including initial, professional, master and distinguished. Rothbauer says with this scale, the committee made sure no one was negatively impacted.

“Nobody on the new package is going to go backward,” he said.
