Gordy’s here to stay in communities they love

WE’RE HERE TO STAY –– There are around 30 Gordy’s store employees at the Cornell location, and the handful shown with store director Marty Timmerman (far left), are ready and willing to serve customers. Timmerman says he is very excited to work for the company and glad management is getting back to their original goal of providing service to the community. (Photo by Ginna Young)

Although the fate of the Cornell Gordy’s grocery store hung in the balance for a few months last year, the franchise is stronger than ever and getting back to what they love. Jeff Schafer, president and sole owner of Gordy’s Market Inc., says he wants to continue giving people what they want and looks forward to being more involved throughout the chain’s six stores.

“These are the communities that we really want to be in,” said Schafer. “I can honestly say…the Cornell store feels like home to me. There’s something about Cornell…it’s got that feel I just love.”
