The Cornell community can welcome a new, full-time police officer, as Nick Maurice was officially promoted to the position Jan. 1. Maurice has served the department as a part-time officer since 2017.

“I just really want to thank everybody that’s put into this to get this additional position open, for me to take advantage of that,” said Maurice.

The position came about after the Cornell City Council worked the third full-time officer into the budget, at the request of Cornell Police Chief Brian Hurt and several community members.
