Cornell could foot bill for catch basins

This past winter was not kind to catch basins

This past winter was not kind to catch basins on State Hwy. 27, and while they have been questionable for some time, this season was the last straw. Replacement is a must, as was discussed at a Cornell Finance Committee meeting May 2.

“We’ve kind of had the struggle with catch basins in the last number of years.,” said Cornell Utility/City Works superintendent Ben Modl, adding the catch basins were installed along the highway in 2012. “After that, they started failing.”

The joints for brick and mortar, vibrated loose and caved in, undermining the state highway.
