Cornell City Council; South Eighth Street parcel given go-ahead for division

The Cornell City Council took a look May 2

By Ginna Young

The Cornell City Council took a look May 2, at a certified survey map of 800 South Eighth Street, owned by Wayne Meyer. The property has a house that sits on the southern piece of the land, making an L-shape.

Meyer requested the city allow him to divide the property in two.

“He’s looking at creating a separate parcel for that home there and he’s potentially creating another building site,” said city administrator Dave DeJongh.

DeJongh said he thinks Meyer wants another set of eyes to make sure he does not create a set of sub-standard lots. The property would still have access to the right-of-way, and meets all zoning requirements and set-backs in compliance with the city’s ordinance book.
