Camping was on the minds of the Cornell City Council at the regular meeting July 5. With community events at the Mill Yard Park throughout the summer, city administrator Dave DeJongh wanted to ensure it’s OK for a few people to camp at the park.

“In the past, when events were there – like the rendezvous, the carnival, softball tournaments – there’s been some camping allowed,” said DeJongh.

“They’re not actually setting up sites, they’re just participating in a special event,” said council member Aimee Korger.

Floyd Hickethier, council member, says as long as people understand the camping is permitted only when there is a special event, there shouldn’t be a problem.
