Carothers fills vacant seat
By Ginna Young
After Dana Leschensky resigned last month from the Cornell City Council after a move from the town, a seat was left vacant, something that needed to be filled for upcoming decisions. Candidates interested in the position were asked to appear before the council, with an explanation of why they would like to serve in the open position.
Members interviewed two such candidates at a regular meeting Oct. 4. Bonnie Selmer spoke first, asking for the council’s support to nominate her for the alderman position.
Selmer, who has been on the council several times, says she enjoys the work and that she has the time for it.
“I love it, I love doing this stuff,” she said.
