Bring your sleds, skis and warmest clothes, for the annual Candlelight Ski and Sledding at Brunet Island State Park in Cornell. This year’s event takes place (weather permitting) Saturday, Jan. 26, with sledding from 3-5 p.m., and cross country skiing and snowshoeing from 5-7 p.m.

Sponsored by the park, Cornell Area Betterment Association, Cornell-Holcombe Pack 2 Cub Scouts, Cornell Lions Club and Cornell-Lake Holcombe Community Ed, visitors are invited to take part in the winter activities at the beach area picnic pavilion. Normal park fees have been waived for the community gathering.

“The event provides a family-friendly atmosphere, and gives people the opportunity to get out and experience, and enjoy, winter recreation activities,” said Zach Thon, park official. “I want people to come out and have a good time, and see what the park has to offer this time of year.”
